In 2018 Sibanye Stillwater decided to upgrade their mill feed conveyors at their Beatrix operation. The old conveyors were deteriorating and needed to be replaced. TLJ was tasked to produce shop detail drawings for the new mill feed conveyors. Sibanye Stillwater required and an alternative method to conduct their weekly shaft exams one of their shafts. Due to the time-consuming process of attaching & detaching a conventional underslung basket, an alternative way was required. TLJ designed a cage with an open type top deck and a conventional bottom deck.Â
Sibanye Stillwater required the installation of three new 400NB pump columns in one of their shafts. The shaft did not have enough space against the sidewall to install these new columns. To overcome this problem the new pump columns were placed between the rock & man compartments, something never done
